Olive wood is a dense hardwood, making it less susceptible to bacteria, odors and stains; but should be coated with mineral oil occasionally to prevent wood from drying out. Avoid leaving in standing water which may cause cracking and splitting of the wood. If cared for properly, olive wood can last indefinitely
